Liliputians at Craftsbury Kids

Filed under: Sites to Visit, Shopping — liliputi @ 10:09 am

I’m so excited to announce that liliputians designs are now being offered at Craftsbury Kids!

Craftsbury Kids

Craftsbury Kids is a web site that specializes in handmade heirlooms, not mass-produced throw-aways. The majority of the products at Craftsbury are handcrafted by independent artisans and small cottage industries.

If that’s not reason enough to check out the creations from Craftsbury’s artists, Cecilia Leibovitz, founder of Craftsbury Kids, offers these tempting tidbits:

-If you’re like us you love the unique beauty and quality of well-crafted handmade goods, and you want your children to have an appreciation for them too.

-You get real things, created by real people who enjoy what they do, not “cookie-cutter” knock-offs. The difference between the two is undeniable; you can literally feel the energy and caring that went into the work of a fine handmade piece.

Now how do I get around liliput?

Liliput is pretty big place even though its inhabitants may be tiny.

To prevent any visitors from getting lost and to save time, a Site Map has been added to liliputians NYC. Just click the Site Map link on the bottom bar. More improvements to come. . .

I bid a sad farewell to a couple of my favorite sets. Peace and Denim Bells and the Hawaiian Hibiscus Tunic Dress are SOLD OUT.

A couple sets are almost gone. Check out the Retro Mod Cherry Berry Dress. Just one serving left!

Great sites, great resources . . .

Filed under: Daily News, Sites to Visit — liliputi @ 9:00 am

Three web site links were added this morning to the liliputians VISIT page.

Visit Strollerville if you are a rockabilly mom or a parent who just appreciates the retro lifestyle.

Couture Moms celebrates mommyhood with its sparkly rhinestone fashions. For those who like a little bling (I know I do!).

Mamatropolis (great name isn’t it?) is a resource for those square-peg parents. They tout themselves as being a “home to the parents who feel out of place elsewhere.”

There are just so many great sites out there to visit!

What’s in a name?

Filed under: History lesson — liliputi @ 7:35 pm

People always ask, “Where did the name liliputians come from?” That, and how to say it.

Well, liliputians was chosen for a couple of reasons. First of all, I love the play on words with my daughter Lily’s name kind of being hidden inside. That only makes sense, as she is the inspiration for the brand.

Liliput also was a familiar childhood place, as Gulliver’s Travels was one of my favorite stories. I loved the part of the story where Gulliver wakes up on the beach surrounded by all the little liliputians.

Lastly, the name liliputians has a history both in NYC and in children’s fashions. In 1879, Best & Company founded the Liliputian Bazaar at 60 West 23rd Street in NYC. It was a leading fashion house and specialized in fine children’s wear.

Oh, and I almost forgot! Lilputians is said like this (lill-uh-pyoo’-shuns).
