We had a great Halloween, us mermaid princesses and pirates, and hope you did too!

The American Museum of Natural History’s big Halloween bash was even more fun than last years.  But I think that has to do more with my little trick-or-treater being older and more fully appreciating the spectacle that Halloween is.  Costumes?  Nah, it’s all about the candy!

Liliputians model Lily wishes everyone a Happy Halloween! My little cherry tomato graced the October issue of PARENTING magazine with some other deliciously cute veggies.

Although the cherry tomato was a great costume idea, she has requested to be a Mermaid Princess for Halloween (I’ll be the accompanying pirate - aargh!). So I designed and made her a great costume fit for, well, a princess. The costume was so much fun to make (photos to soon follow) that liliputians will be offering a few costumes next Halloween (in addition to our Halloween shirts & outfits) and will also welcome orders for custom costumes.

What are bright colors, kitschy Americana and the Wild West all rolled into one? Why it’s the newest liliputians outfits, perfect for your little Cowgirl or Indian.

Perfect for sister sets, the pants set or skirt set can be mixed and matched or also available as separates. Either outfit consists of a light blue shirt (other colors also available) that is appliqued with your choice of a Cowgirl (complete with lasso and calf) or an Indian Maiden on horseback. Then it’s up to you to choose from an appliqued cow print skirt or fun cow print pants to finish the ensemble. Cowboy boots and hats are optional.

Our sweet tooth for yummy cupcake designs never seems to be satisfied. So we decided to serve up some more freshly baked cupcake-themed fashions.

The newest liliputians cupcake dress is in a fun purple and brown print with fancy woven birthday cake ribbon trim. As with most liliputians designs, it’s customizable with your choice of long or short sleeves. It’s the perfect dress for birthdays and well beyond.

Frida Kahlo is a source of inspiration for me, both her vibrantly-hued, emotionally-charged Surrealist paintings (55 of which were self portraits) as well as her ability to overcome such extreme obstacles throughout her lifetime. So it is only fitting that there are several liliputians designs directly inspired by this famous painter.

Our newest shirt design is an homage to Frida, with a multi-layered and detailed applique depicting her self portrait in traditional Mexican dress with pet monkey, a heart milagro and tropical flowers (including a ribbon rose accent in her hair which gives the applique a 3-dimensional aspect). The shirt is available in girls and women sizes and can be made on a variety of shirt colors (white, black, chocolate brown, pink, light blue or lavender).  Many more Frida inspired designs in the liliputians boutique.

Liliputians has several new yummy barrettes in our boutique. All of these sweet treats, chocolate chip cookies, smiling gingerbread men, plum puddings, and cherry topped cupcakes, are made from handcrafted polymer buttons that are securely sewn onto our ribbon wrapped hair clips. The result is the perfect dessert to top off any outfit. Enjoy!

Liliputians is in the spotlight today! Or to be more specific, liliputians and I (Heather Flottmann, Owner and Designer of liliputians) are in the WAHM Spotlight today. The interview gives you a peek behind the scenes of liliputians so to speak.

WAHM Spotlight is a unique web site and resource that I’ve mentioned before on the liliputians blog. It focuses, obviously, on work-at-home moms. In addition to interviews with mompreneurs, the site also has some great how-to articles for those that are thinking of starting a business venture and tips to help improve and streamline things for businesses already underway.
