Matroyshka Nesting Dolls Fall Girls Outfit
August 20, 2008 | New Designs
Russian folk art, or hand painted Matroyshka nesting dolls to be exact, are the latest inspiration of a new fall girls outfit for liliputians.
I recently moved and rediscovered my childhood set of nesting dolls in a trunk. After playing with them myself one more time, I gave them on to my 4-year old daughter for her to enjoy and hopefully some day pass on to her daughter. Finding those little works of art was the motivation to finally use some of the fabulous coordinating matroyshka doll fabric I’ve been hoarding for a year or two.

The Matroyshka Doll skirt set is a fun combination of fabrics, appliques, buttons and trims. It is composed of a whimsical shirt with three Matroyshka doll appliques and one tiny handpainted wooden Matroyshka doll button. Crochet flowers accent the sleeves at the wrists. The matching skirt is in a field of flowers print of pink on black with a contrasting hem of a wild allover Matroyshka doll print. On the front left is a Matroyshka doll applique complete with button flowers. Fancy crochet flower trim completes the skirt perfectly.
