Liliputians is doing a contest with Junior Society and a lucky winner will get to choose a birthday shirt of their choice (for a boy or girl).
Before I share the details about the contest, first let me tell you about Junior Society (because I LOVE this site)! “Grand poobah” and owner of online store Mahar Dry Goods, Robert Mahar created Junior Society to showcase the “unusual, clever and intelligent products, services and activities for children that don’t fit into the specialized parameters” of his store. So Junior Society celebrates this bounty of “better than average kiddie culture and design.”

Enter liliputians! Mutual admiration for one another’s stores made doing this joint contest a no-brainer. The contest is sweet and simple. Just leave a comment by 11:59 pm this Wednesday, August 15th about what birthday shirt is your favorite and you’re entered. The winner will be announced on Thursday the 16th on Junior Society. Good luck!
Goodyblog, the fun new site powered by Parents Magazine, is having a Blog Party. They are giving away 6 awesome goodybags as prizes and believe me, they are really something special.
One of those bags is from liliputians retailer The Silly Wagon and includes some AMAZING goodies inside! In addition to a liliputians girls or boys birthday outfit, The Silly Wagon goodybag contains a princess necklace by The Vintage Pearl, a Shelley Assody Designs charm bracelet, a Dine & Doodle chalk mat, fun wall art by Luka Studio, and a Pastel Toys wooden horse. Oh, yes, and all of this yummy goodness is contained inside a fun Silly Wagon tote bag (we have one and it’s perfect for the beach or a trip to the farmers market).

So just go and check out the goodybags and make a comment for a chance to win. (I did!). And if you don’t win,
at least you know where to go for your next online shopping trip!
Liliputians NYC would like to wish a very Happy First Birthday to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie Pitt. Where ever her first birthday celebration is held, it’s sure to be a special one and we look forward to the inevitable pictures that will make their way to the press (or maybe not if they’re able to out fox them).
Being big fans of both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (how can one not be taken with such class, talent, loving parents & giving humanitarians?), liliputians jumped at the chance to send one-year old Shiloh a birthday gift (arranged by 32Flavors PR). That was an easy decision, deciding what to send was not!
We ended up sending baby Jolie-Pitt a birthday outfit (the Birthday Cakes and Polka Dots Capri Set), our colorful and unique Folklore Fiesta outfit, and the Frida Kahlo Inspired Outfit with its funky palazzo pants and Te Amo Mucho flaming heart appliqued shirt in stylish black.
Here’s some pictures of some of the goodies that Shiloh received for her big day. Happy Birthday gorgeous little one!
The Silly Wagon is a new web site (their virtual doors open June 1st!) and the newest liliputians retailer. I know that many of us in internet land are anxiously awaiting their grand opening.
The owners of The Silly Wagon, Whitney and Vered, really have an eye for designs you won’t be able to resist. Their boutique will not only sell the big, exclusive Euro brands that you know and love (like Oilily), but also hard-to-find, handmade designs from indie designers (like liliputians). They will also carry the most exquisite handpainted children’s furniture, jewelry, toys, unique gift ideas, and even things for mom.
Even though The Silly Wagon is not open yet, you can visit the site and see a slide show of a few of the yummy offerings. There’s another great reason to visit. Sign up for the newsletter to get exclusive offers (like $10 off your purchase of $50 or more). You can also read The Silly Wagon Blog. Check it out for a fun interview with yours truly, a silly wagon extraordinaire!
Who would have thunk that there would be such a great support community online for indie designers? I have been lucky enough to “meet” several other indie designers (many are wahm like me) and consider many of them my friends despite the fact that we may live several states away from one another and have never met. I would like to thank a couple of these fantastic design divas and tell you a little about them and their businesses.
Thanks Bari J for your support & business! I’m so flattered with the mention on your blog. Bari J makes the most amazing bags, unique French ribbon brooches, gorgeous quilted fabric belts, and cute cell phone covers. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the fabric combos are an artful mix, and the vintage inspired styling is superb!
Thanks to Merle of OlovesM! I just received an email from Liz of Wickedly Chic that Merle is their Reader of the Week. In her write up she mentions several indie sites and has great things to say about liliputians. Thanks Merle! We love your durable yet stylish, earth friendly bags too (and apparently a lot of celebs love them also - wow!).
And a belated thank you to Deborah of Baby Starlet for the mention in her Indie Entreprenuer interview. I’m beyond flattered to be considered as one of your inspirations. We are inspired by Baby Starlet’s lush and exquisite Moses baskets (check out the Ava collection!).
We celebrated Lily’s 3rd birthday this Saturday. It was the perfect weekend and the perfect day.
She awoke stating “it’s party time” and it really was. She got dressed in her special birthday outfit. Of all the liliputians birthday designs, she chose the colorful Retro Birthday Balloons and Polka Dots skirt set.

Then presents were prompty opened with the biggest surprise in the back yard - her new clubhouse (which is actually kind of cute for it being a plastic –yuck!– house). It was a gorgeous day spent outside watching Lily have fun on her special day and having our first bbq of the summer. What a great day. . . Oh, to be “3″ again!
So goes the saying and we’re in agreement here at liliputians NYC. For those who also like some sparkle and bling, you can now find some gorgeous jewels in our boutique.
We searched high and low to find handcrafted, timeless yet trendy, heirloom quality jewelry for little ones. Not only did we want to be able to offer items for little girls, but we also wanted to be able to offer coordinating pieces for women. Now both little and big girls can find accessories to flatter their liliputians clothing!

Made by award winning, jewelry designer Mary Ann Springer of Pink Papillon, her designs are truly perfection. We own several of her pieces and have been impressed with their craftsmanship, durability, and most of all their gorgeous appearance.
Check out the line of sterling silver handstamped bracelets and necklaces that are personalized and custom made to order for both mommy and little girl. And her collection of pearl bracelets and necklaces are bound to become a treasured keepsake. There are birthstone and birthday bracelets which make a great gift and can be worn well beyond the big day. We just loved the silver knot bracelet, so simple and sweet. And last but not least, there is the fun cherry fringe bracelet. Yummy!
Occasionally when we get enough customer requests and if fabric permits, liliputians will offer a past design again. This is the case with the Folklore Fiesta summer set. So, it’s back and colorful as ever (in very limited supply)!

The swing top is so loaded with details, lots of ruffled edges and ribbon accents. The coordinating bottoms come in your choice of bloomer shorts, cropped bloomers, or full length pantaloons. Available as a set, with the optional kerchief, or as separates. Get yours before they’re gone for good!
After much searching and testing, we finally found the perfect children’s shoes. Liliputians NYC is thrilled to be offering them in our online children’s boutique.
So what were we looking for in our search? Shoes that were stylish, lightweight yet still durable, and easy to put on and off. They absolutely had to have flexible rubber soles and breathable leather uppers. We also wanted something unique and in colors that would compliment most liliputians NYC clothing. What we found were Tipsie Toes. These Mary Jane style shoes are just too cute! They not only have all these characteristics, but are reasonably priced too.

Lily has been testing her pairs of Lola and Emily Tipsie Toes and they have really held up well. The fact that they can be dressed up or down so easily is a selling point with me. Lily just likes them; so much that when she first got them she refused to take them off at bedtime! Oh and don’t let me forget to mention that TipsieToes is a mompreneur company.
